DMS VOLLEYBALL TRYOUTS FOR 2023
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED TO TRYOUT
FRIDAY, MAY 26 from 6-8pm for girls going into 6th. 7th, & 8th grade at DMS

REQUIREMENTS to TRYOUT for DMS VOLLEYBALL
1. Bring copy of physical or sports physical. YOU MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL DATED APRIL 15, 2023, OR AFTER TO TRYOUT.
​2.  Sign and bring an assumption of risk form (print from the website. Also available onsite).
3.  Wear shorts, t-shirt, and tennis shoes.  Bring water.
4.  If you make the volleyball team, you will find out immediately following tryouts.  You will need a parent and 2 checks to sign up for  2 team volleyball camps at DMS ($25 and $120) Cash also accepted.  You will also fill out paperwork and receive a practice and tentative season schedule.

Volleyball is a sport where we start with basic volleyball skills because very few athletes have ever played organized volleyball.  The tryout time is used for learning the fundamentals and demonstrating the new skills.  
If your athlete makes the volleyball team, the tentative SEASON TIMELINE is below.
>June— skills & clinics/camps 
>NO volleyball May 29 through June 2 or June 25 through July 9, 2023 during the TSSAA Dead period
>July 10th through end of July— practices/scrimmages/camps
>July 15 DMS fundraiser play day for parents and players
>August 1—school begins—practice after school
>August through Sept 2023 regular season matches and tournaments
>TMSAA has added a new Post season schedule for volleyball: Area tourney Sept 25 through 29th; top 2 teams advance to Sectional on Sept 30, 2023. State tourney October 4-7, 2023.
